Norwich Family YMCA Annual Dinner & Hero Award Ceremony for Volunteer Recognition
On January 25, 2010 the Norwich Family YMCA held its Annual Dinner and Hero Award Ceremony at the Canasawacta Country Club in Norwich. The Norwich Family YMCA Hero Program is a newly created recognition program that highlights the importance of volunteerism and the impact volunteers have on our organization. The YMCA has created five categories in which individuals can be nominated for exemplary volunteerism to the YMCA. The five categories are: Adul,; Student, Employee, Policy Volunteer, and Lifetime Achievement Award. The number of participants recognized each year may vary depending on the number of applicants submitted and whether the applicants meet the recognition requirements as established in the annual nomination forms. This inaugural program was well received by the membership, staff, and policy volunteers.

Ten amazing YMCA volunteers were recognized at the 122nd Norwich Family YMCA Annual Dinner. It is the intention of the YMCA to recognize our Hero Volunteers annually at this event. Please join the YMCA in recognizing volunteerism and the importance it plays in our organization, our community and in our lives.

This year's YMCA Hero recipients include: Adult Volunteer Recipients Rosemary Brown, Steve Tworkowsky, and Tom Enright; Student Volunteer Recipients Christopher Bennett and Molly DeMellier; Employee Volunteer Recipient Julie Wallen; Board Volunteer Recipients JoAnn Mirabito and Steve Benenati; YMCA Lifetime Achievement Award Recipients Jack Weinman and George Echentile.
