– utilizes a variety of cardio techniques, including step, kick-boxing, low impact and interval training. This class is guaranteed to raise your heart rate and workout fun factor!
– is an explosion of cardio drills. It uses 1- 2 minute drills to greatly increase participants' fitness level and athleticism.
-- is a wonderfully athletic and fun workout. Kettlebells look like small bowling balls with a suitcase handle, and pack a powerful punch. Adding kettlebells to your workout is sure to increase strength, muscular endurance, weight loss, power and mental toughness. It is a must try at the YMCA!
-– is one of our more high-energy classes. It combines the best of kick boxing fun and concentrated core (abdominal, obliques and lower back) work. It’s a crowd pleaser and a must try at our “Y”.
- is a class to challenge our senior members to do more weight bearing, land based exercises. The instructor uses bosus, spinning bikes, resistance bands, dumbbells, benches and body bars. Resistance and cardio training has been proven to slow down the aging process, thus helping seniors live longer, more productive lifestyles. (Chairs are available for those who need more stability).
(which include: Spin and Strength, Strictly Spin, Spin & Abs and Spinning Blast) -- are challenging cardio workouts on a racing style stationary bike. They are ½ hour to one hour classes of hills, sprints, and other novel spinning drills in various riding positions. This class is great for anyone interested in a superior fat blasting, cardiovascular workout, with little to no stress on the joints. (Recovery Spin is offered on Friday nights to ride away the soreness and stress of the week!)
-- is a class utilizes step aerobics (somewhat choreographed) to challenge one’s cardio system. It also includes many challenging strength moves to improve one’s overall fitness level.
(which include: Strength Works, Power-Toning, Start Strong, Strength Drills, Upper Body Strength) -- are classes which utilize dumbbells, barbells, stretchy bands, body bars, gliding discs and medicine balls, etc. to increase muscular endurance and strength. The instructor will target every major muscle group in the body to help participants look and live stronger. The strength classes are particularly important for women who do not do resistance training outside of the group exercise room.
-- are a series of mindful and meditative movements designed for health, flexibility, inner peace, strength, vitality and circulation. (See a more in depth description in our handout at the Front desk).
-- are a series of stretches and poses that promote control of the body and mind, and are intended to promote ones physical and spiritual well-being. The class is excellent for enhancing flexibility, balance and concentration, while using breathing techniques to aid in relaxation and de-stressing. Many of the benefits of traditional yoga and strength classes can be found in our yoga ball class.
– is new exciting “workout” that draws from Latin and international dance choreography. It is a unique, high-energy, dance-style class that delivers non-stop, calorie burning fun. Come feel the experience of pulsating rhythms, dynamic movement and powerful percussions!
