The Norwich Family YMCA’s camp Thompson is a 200-acre site located in Smyrna, NY. 2011 is the YMCA Camp’s 43rd camping season. Camp Thompson is a wonderful place for your children to spend their summer hiking the many trails, swimming in our own private lake or just enjoying the scenic environment surrounding them. The camp is well equipped with everything a camp needs including a main lodge with kitchen, dining and bathroom facilities, several sleeping cabins, a pavilion, shower house, playground, boathouse and more.

Camp Thompson is within a short drive from the Norwich Family YMCA, but you don’t even need to worry about the drive because daily bus transportation is included in our camp programs.

Day Camp Teen Camp
Day Camp is open for children in grades K-5. This program runs from 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, June 27th through August 19th, 2011. While at camp your child will participate in several different program areas including outdoor education, 4-H programming, arts & crafts, sports & recreation and aquatics/waterfront activities. Campers will be divided into age/grade appropriate groups. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided each day. Each child is responsible to bring a bag lunch, swimsuit, towel and sweatshirt in their backpack every day.

Day Camp fees are as follows for 2011:
Members: $22 per day
Non-members: $32 per day
*Additional fees may be charged for Overnighters and Field Trips.

We require that you sign your child up and pay at least one day before their attendance to the Day Camp program. Every camper must have completed the registration process before signing up.

Teen Camp is a program for youth 6th grade and up. This program is a combination of team building, advanced camp crafts, mountain biking, and service learning activities. The participants take part in planning their activities for the week. Each child is responsible to bring a bag lunch, swimsuit, towel and sweatshirt in their backpack every day.

Teen Camp fees are as follows for 2011:
Members: $22 per day
Non-members: $32 per day

In order to attend the YMCA Day Camp or Teen Camp programs, a registration packet must be completed and returned to the YMCA along with a camp registration fee. When this has been completed your child may then sign up for the days they will be attending. In addition to holding a spot for your child, a Camp Thompson gift will be given to each camper during their first week of camp.

Parent Handbooks are available online and at the YMCA front desk. We require all particicipants be registered prior to attending camp and that payments for camp must be received at least one business day before attending Day Camp or Teen Camp at Camp Thompson. If you need to make special arrangements please contact our Finance office prior to registration.

In order for us to effectively prepare for your child at camp, we are encouraging you to preregister by June 1st. The registration fee is $20 per camper and is non-refundable regardless of camp attendance.

Scholarships  
The Norwich Family YMCA will not deny participation in any activity due to an individual’s inability to pay. Families may be eligible for child care grants from a variety of scholarship sources including the Department of Social Services, the Chenango County Child Care Coordinating Council and the Norwich Family YMCA.
